Technicians, Once They Have Completed the Necessary Skills,
Will Be Considered for Promotion to Crew Chief When Positions Become Available
The City of Arlington Water Utilities department is hiring to fill the position of Utility Technician. We are interested in candidates that possess all levels of experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The primary function of this position is to assist with the repairs and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This includes, but is not limited to, performing repairs to water and sewer mains/services, completing work for customer service calls, installing sewer and water taps, conducting repairs to hydrants/valves, and interacting with other City employees and citizens in a positive and professional manner. Scheduled call back responses related to emergencies are mandatory.

Ability to perform various physical movements including but not limited to carrying, crawling, dragging, lifting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting body, pulling, and/or pushing.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to dust and fumes. Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and/or explosive hazards is also common.
Ability to work in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent up to 90 lbs.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to respond to emergency situations.
Ability to use a variety of hand held or power tools.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED required.
Ability to obtain a Texas Class "A" CDL with Tanker endorsements within 5 months of employment.
Pre-employment testing includes: Criminal Background, Drug and Alcohol, Physical and Motor Vehicle Check.
